How to make a Video Module

This tutorial will explain how to make an HTML module with a video in it.

Go to the Content Manager. Click the “New” button at the bottom of the page. Select “HTML Content” from the list of modules.

 Enter a title for your module. Click “yes” for Published.

 In the content box, click “source.” Then, type the following:

 (For classic sites)

<div class=”module”>

<h2> MODULE TITLE GOES HERE </h2>

<div class=”content”>

<p> EMBED CODE GOES HERE </p>

</div>

</div>

(for r5 sites only)

<div class=”module”>

<h2> MODULE TITLE GOES HERE </h2>

<div class=”flex-video”>

 IFRAME FOR VIDEO GOES HERE

</div>

</div>

(optimal width is 640 px for r5 sites)

Put the title of your module between the <h2> and </h2> tags – this is the title that will appear in the box on your site (i.e., Featured Video). If you do not want a title, simply delete the <h2> and </h2> tags.

You can also copy and paste the code from a video module that already exists, and just delete the embed code and paste in a new one.

Put the embed code for your video between the <p> and </p> tags. The embed code normally begins with “<object width=” and can be found on your video hosting site. It may also begin with <iframe which is fine too.

To change the size of the video, find the width and height in the embed code. It appears two times and must be changed in both places in order for the video size to change.

Example:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OBhYxj2SvRI?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OBhYxj2SvRI?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Both of the dimensions must be changed. A good width and height is 300 px wide and 255 px tall. So you would change them in the code to width="300" height="255"

Once you have created a video module, you can then put it on a page.
